Georgia Kay Harper, a woman of profound kindness and grace, passed away peacefully, August 14th, 2026, finding comfort in the presence of God while surrounded by her children and family.
Georgia was a cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Her life was defined by dedication and an adventurous spirit, evident in her commitment.
As Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me,” and she lived that truth with grace.
On March 16th, 1961, born in Greenville, South Carolina, Georgia eventually moved north with her family to Charlotte North Carolina. She is the youngest of five siblings, all children of Ron and Katherine Harper (Danny, Jimmy, Chris and Margie)
Growing up, she loved to bake desserts for the family.
Georgia loved to dance, she and Danny (brother) would disco dance in their living room.
She was a cheerleader in Junior high school.
Endeavors and achievements:
BacInTyme Coffee Cafe: Georgia opened the independent coffee house in June 2008 at 124 Confederate Street. Operating during a sharp economic recession, her business defied trends and achieved its three-year growth plan in just twelve months.
Downtown Revitalization: She intentionally used her business footprint to stimulate the local economy. For the cafe’s milestones, she coordinated multi-venue block events that spilled onto Main Street, partnering with nearby local institutions like the Fort Mill Art Guild and Storm Dancer Studios to drive foot traffic downtown.
The Arts Scene: Georgia was a strong advocate for the local arts community. BacInTyme regularly hosted live musicians, displayed local artwork, and served as a central hub for community gathering before its eventual closure.
Professional Background:
Beyond her work as a small business owner, her name is tied to Harper Corporation of America as Marketing Director (founded by her parents) a global manufacturing company headquartered in nearby Charlotte, North Carolina, which specializes in laser-engraved anilox rolls for the printing industry. She has historically been recognized within organizations like the Flexographic Technical Association (FTA).
Presidents Award: Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) 1998
She was a spirited force in local Politics and community events (Bellevue, Wisconsin). Aiming for camaraderie in common ground.
She never met a stranger, a networker.
Her legacy is one of selflessness; she was known for her heart of giving and a commitment to peace, always ready to help others without ever asking for anything in return. She taught those around her to live life to its fullest and to work hard for their families, leaving behind a blueprint for living with purpose. Georgia was, and always will be, a light to this world—a true blessing from God.
