Gay Marie (Varney) Shackelford

Fort Lawn, SC - Mrs. Gay “Marie” (Varney) Shackelford of Fort Lawn, SC and formerly of Rock Hill, SC went to be with her mom, Barbara Varney.

The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home

Funeral services will be  2:00 pm, Thursday November 30, 2023 at Bass Cauthen Funeral Home.  Committal will be immediately following the service at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens

Marie was the daughter of Alvis R. Varney and the late Barbara Hollon Varney.  Marie was a housewife and stay at home mom until she went to work for Home Depot. Her hobbies were couponing, fishing, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren, and spending time in the mountains.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Joseph D. Shackelford, Jr.; her children, James (Mikayla) Shackelford, Raelene (Matthew) Slaton, and Jakob (Audrey) Shackelford; her brother, Dale (Lisa) Varney; and her sisters, Alberta Varney and Teresa Roberts. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren and a hosts of nieces and nephews.
