Frankie Jean (Daves) Cope, 90, of Mint Hill, NC, formerly of Fort Mill, SC, Newburgh, IN and Brevard, NC, died peacefully on August 5, 2026 at Cadence Senior Living Mint Hill.
Frankie was preceded in death by her husband Kenton W. Cope, her parents Nate and Callie (Woods) Daves and her siblings Jim, Troy, Charles, Mildred, Lillian and Louise Daves.
Frankie Jean was born in Franklin, NC and attended Sylva High School in Sylva, NC. While in high school she was a majorette with the marching band and played basketball. Her enjoyment of music and sports were lifelong. It was also while attending Sylva High School, she met the love of her life and husband of sixty-six years, Kenton. Frankie Jean was a committed wife, proud mother and supportive “Mamaw” to her three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Throughout her life, wherever she lived she generously extended hospitality particularly to the most vulnerable. She and Kenton opened their home to foster children, ministered to justice-impacted folks and faithfully served neighbors through the ministries of their local Church.
Frankie Jean is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Connie and Tom Bonebrake of Charlotte, NC; grand and great grandchildren, Kari, Cole, Ellis and Hewitt Kessell of Charlotte, NC; Michele, Joe, Jonah and Hadley McCready of Fort Mill and Kent and Krisanna Bonebrake of Fort Collins, CO.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Cadence Assisted Living Mint Hill who loved and cared for Frankie Jean for almost six years. You, too, are family.
The family will have a private celebration of life and inurnment service at Grace Presbyterian Church in Fort Mill, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Grace Presbyterian Church local missions fund. https://tinyurl.com/gracefortmill
