Ethel Butler

June 12, 1943 — October 13, 2025

Ethel Marguerite Beasley Butler, 82, of Fort Mill, South Carolina passed away on October 13th, 2025. Ethel was born on June 12th, 1943, in Clarksville, Tennessee, to Daniel West Beasley and Ethel Marguerite Hambough.

Her family moved to Jackson, Mississipi and she graduated from Provine High School. Ethel furthered her education at Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi and subsequently UAB to gain a Master’s Degree in Education.

Ethel enjoyed playing and teaching bridge, spending time with her grandchildren, going to the beach, wearing chunky jewelry, selling real estate and buying pink dishes she didn’t need. She loved the Lord very much and in her earlier years taught 6th Grade at Briarwood Christian School in Birmingham, Alabama. She left the teaching profession in the mid 80's and became a top multi-million dollar real estate agent.

In 2007 she moved to Fort Mill, SC to be closer to her daughter Ann Marie May to help take care of her Grandchildren while her daughter worked. In Fort Mill she taught bridge and during the pandemic even taught online.

She is survived by her daughter Ann Marie May, son in law Chris May and four grandchildren Britany Butler, Jacob May, Ethan May and Avery May. She was preceded in death by both her parents and son Trevor Butler. A celebration of life will be held in Fort Mill and she will be placed to rest between her parent’s gravesite in Jackson, Mississippi.
