Ernest Arnold Weslock of Rock Hill, SC passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at the Westminster Health Center at the age of 99. He was born September 30, 1915 to Agnes and Herman Weslock in Big Rapids, Michigan. He married Martha Krupp of Big Rapids in 1940 and their marriage was blessed with three children. Mr. Weslock started his working career as a machinist in Big Rapids and was eventually employed as a tool and die maker for General Motors in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He later became a self-educated engineer and worked as a production engineer in the office furniture industry. He retired from Herman Miller, Inc. of Zeeland, Michigan at the age of 72, as a project engineer. Mr. Weslock was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army at the end of WWII. Mr. Weslock was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and was active in the church all his life. He helped to establish a Lutheran elementary school at St. James Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He also was involved in starting a mission church in Portage, Michigan, St. Michael Lutheran Church. After moving to South Carolina he worked to establish Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Mr. Weslock was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was active in evangelism, Bible study, and worship at All Saints. Mr. Weslock was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha H. Weslock, his second wife Evelyn R. Weslock, two brothers and three sisters. Mr. Weslock is survived by two sons: Terry Weslock (Naomi) of Lake in the Hills, Illinois and Larry Weslock (Cari) of Fort Mill, South Carolina; a daughter Carol Marbaugh (Ken) of Apple Valley, Minnesota. He is also survived by eight grand children, twelve great grand children, and one great, great grandson. Memorial service will be held Monday, November 10, 2014 at 11 am at All Saints Lutheran Church, 17030 Lancaster Hwy., Charlotte, NC.
