Obituary

Ella "sissy" Nelson 55, of Gary's circle, Fort Mill SC passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Piedmont Medical Center, with her husband, Larry Nelson and stepmom, Leslie Richardson by her side. A celebration of life will be held in Lumberton, NC at a later date.

Ella, a lumbee Indian, was the daughter of the late Betty J. Richardson and the late Billy D. Richardson both from Robeson county.

She will be remembered as a wife, mother, aunt and sister. After Several years of working in retail and fast food, her health made her retire early and be a stay at home mom.

She learned to cook at a young age and as years passed she perfected her craft and because of this and her obsession of sweet tea, Larry always blamed her for him being fat.

She was also known to say "adopt every baby and child she could. Somehow even talked Larry into it. Every time she heard someone she knew was having a baby, she would say, "oh yeah another baby to spoil". Don't try to tell her no, because no matter what you said or did, she would do it anyway, with or without Larry's consent. Her love for kids, she and Larry opened their hearts and home to Bryson Varnadale. He filled the void in her heart of a son she could not have.

She is known to have many collections, shot glasses and Christmas teddy bears to name a couple.

She was a WWE, stockcar racing and football fan. She would spend her time watching and yelling at the tv while playing games on the phone. Her favorite all time favorites were Batista, hanight Dale earnhardt Sr and Miami Dolphins, why the dolphins? We don't know.

She was particular about her towels, she had to have them folded a certain way. Don't mess with her candy jar, whether you stole one or 50 she would know.

She had a love for cabbage, lobster tail, potato salad and deviled eggs. She loved to share the smelly effects to every one she could. Next time you eat deviled eggs, potato salad or cabbage and your gut starts rumbling, remember Ella, because if she ate them , you 'Sho nuff" would remember her.
