Obituary

Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Macaulay, born October 9, 1938, in Malden, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, in Fort Mill, South Carolina.

She lived a long and meaningful life devoted to caring for others, her family, and her community. Betty graduated from the nursing program at Malden Hospital and went on to serve as a registered nurse for 50 years. Her compassion, dedication, and steady presence touched countless lives throughout her career.

She and her beloved husband, William John Macaulay, made their home in Saugus, Massachusetts, for most of their lives, where Betty was active in the school system and served for many years as a school nurse.

Betty was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, William John Macaulay. She is survived by her two sons, John Macaulay and his spouse, Karein, and Tim Macaulay and his spouse, Paula; her five grandchildren, William “Bill” Macaulay, Matthew Macaulay and his spouse, Ashtyn, Michael Macaulay and his spouse, Kendall, Cynthia Bosch and her spouse, Andrew, and Christopher Macaulay and his spouse, Samantha; and her six great-grandchildren, all of whom brought great joy to her life.

Above all, Betty’s family was the center of her life. She cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and took great pride in the family she and William built together. Whether offering guidance, comfort,

encouragement, or simply her steady presence, Betty showed her love through the care she gave so generously. She will be remembered for her caring heart, her devotion to family, and her lifelong commitment to helping others. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and service will live on in the many lives she touched.

Service arrangements will be shared by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  St. Jude  Children's Research Hospital.
