Elizabeth Diana Hammond

McConnells, SC - Mrs. Elizabeth Diana Childers Hammond, 78, died Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill, SC.

Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Whitesell Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Gardener officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

A native of Gastonia, NC Mrs. Hammond was a daughter of the late Rollie and Ruth Childers. She will be remembered as a lady who loved her family deeply, her country, the men and women who served their country, the races and singing. She was devoted to caring for her family through some very rough times. Camping at the river was one of her favorite activities.

Surviving are her children, Markie Banks (Ben), Russell Efaw (Destiny), Jody Hammond (Heather), Tammy Jones (Bobby), Chris Efaw (Chasidy), Mike Efaw (Kim), and Timothy Childers; a brother, Benny Childers; a sister, Rena Roof; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bubba” Hammond.
