 “Libby” Boatwright, 77, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025, in the Intensive Care Unit at Atrium Health Main in Charlotte, NC. She was born in Rock Hill, SC, a daughter of the late Lonnie V. “Bud” Boyd and Elizabeth “Betty” Canon Boyd. 

Libby dedicated her life to helping others. She was a retired IVF Nurse Coordinator with Atrium Healthcare. Libby was as a nurse for 50 years. Beyond her career, she was a proud and dedicated member of the Pineville Fire and Rescue Squad and served on the Town of Pineville Council for many years. Pineville was her heart, and she deeply loved everyone and everything about the community she called home. Everyone knew Libby — or knew of her. Some lovingly knew her by the name “Deeda.” She lived to serve others, and nothing brought her more joy than caring for people and being part of so many lives. 

Libby is survived by: • Sister: Polly Farris, husband John, and daughter Julie of Ocean Isle Beach, NC • Sister-in-law and devoted caretaker: Debbie Wilson • Niece: Ashlie Morris, husband Derrick Morris II, and their children Alysia Hope Morris and Derrick Morris III • Nephew: Joel Patterson, wife Tressa, and daughter Gracie of Supply, NC • Stepchildren: Kevin Boatwright and wife Debra, Renee Boatwright, and Kay She was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Betty Boyd; her husband, Donald Eugene Boatwright; her sister, Mary Patterson (Wayne); and her brother, Ed Boyd.

 The family requests that memorial donations be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children in Libby’s honor: Donate to Shriners Hospitals for Children — Legacy Giving. A drop-in visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at 858 Fort Mill Highway, Indian Land, SC.
