Elegton Edward Mitchum

Rock Hill, SC – Mr. Elegton Edward Mitchum, 74, died Wednesday, June 29 2022, at Atrium Health Cabarrus, Concord, NC.

A memorial service will be 10:00 am, Tuesday July 5, 2022, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 455 Hands Mill Highway, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

A native of Lamar, SC, Mr. Mitchum was a son of the late Samuel Jackson Mitchum and Claudia Dixon Mitchum.  He was a Foreman for Collins Construction Company and worked for them for 45 years.  He will be remembered as a man who loved to fish and go coon hunting.

Surviving are his wife, Hazel Logan Mitchum; eight sons, Johnny Mitchum (Stephanie), Scottie Patton, Edward Mitchum, Jr, Wesley Mitchum, Steve Mitchum (Bonnie), Marty Mitchum (Sandy), Darryl Mitchum, and Tommy Mitchum; four daughters, CC Mitchum (Dalton), Lesley Mitchell (Austin), Paris Mitchum and London Mitchum; a sister, Sylvia Mitchum; a brother, Charlie Mitchum; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Mitchum.
