Doris Wheeler Smith

Doris Wheeler Smith, 87, passed away peacefully at White Oak Manor, Rock Hill, SC on October 30, 2025. Doris was a lifelong resident of Fort Mill and was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church. Although she suffered with serious health issues for more than 4 decades, she was known for her steely independence, fierce will to live, vivacious personality, and true love of the beach and Christmas.

Doris was the beloved daughter of the late, James Calvin Wheeler and Rachel Parker Wheeler of Fort Mill. She was also proceeded in death by her son, Robert Zane Smith, Jr, daughter Julia Smith Hensley, siblings, Terry Wheeler and Elsie Hamilton. She is survived by her daughters Robin Smith Marchin (Kevin) and Janet Smith Bedenbaugh (Russell) and her brothers Jerry Wheeler (Carolyn) and Jimmie Wheeler (Joan). As well as grandchildren Rachel Wheeler Page (Jerod), Kyle T. Marchin (Petrice), Coleman S. Marchin, W. Chase Bedenbaugh (Katie), Courtney Smith Greene (Matt), and Caitlyn M. Bedenbaugh. She was blessed by her great grandchildren, McKenzie Page, Sarah Wheeler, Caroline Page, Alicia Page, Mya Beard, Lilly Beard, Vaughn Beard, Parker Bedenbaugh and Roman Greene.

Doris will be laid to rest at Flint Hill Baptist Church in a graveside service at a later date.
