Donna L. Hickman 88, passed away peacefully in the morning of May 10, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Born on April 15th, 1937, Donna dedicated her life to education and service. A proud graduate of Fayetteville State University, she pursued a career as a teacher, where she touched the lives of countless students with her dedication and care. Her work in the classroom reflected her deep compassion and unwavering commitment to nurturing young minds. Donna was a loving companion, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and an attentive teacher whose warmth extended beyond her family and into the community. She enjoyed simple pleasures like playing cards and spending time with friends and family. Later in life, she found joy in the company of Roger Wilson, with whom she particularly enjoyed companionship and rides in the country. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, and she was a devoted member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Fort Mill, S.C.
Donna is lovingly remembered by her sister: Georgette Lefaive (Bruce); her children: Deborah Hickman Thorp (Mike), Cynthia Hickman Clayton (Ken), and Gregory Hickman; her grandchildren: Michael and Robert Thorp (Laura); and Lauren Pineda (Teddy). Additionally remembered by her great-grandchildren: Noah Pineda and Grace Pineda; and dear companion, Roger Wilson. Donna was predeceased by Robert C. Hickman and John P. Connell.
A funeral service will be held at All Saints Catholic Church, Lake Wylie, SC, at 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 15, 2025. Visitation will be held in the Parish Life Center starting at 10:00 AM.
A small reception will be held in the Parish Life Center immediately after the funeral.
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Donna's memory and her courageous battle with kidney disease. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
