Daniel J. Krutules, age 85, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026 surrounded by his loving children. He was born on September 9, 1940 to John and Sophie Krutules in the South Side of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he lived most of his life. 

While proudly serving in the U.S. Army, Daniel married his beautiful wife, Sandra and together they shared 62 years raising three children, Kristine, Kathie, and Daniel. Their three children gave him six wonderful grandchildren Katelyn, Zander, Sasha, Anna, Alec, and Danny Lukas. After graduating from Robert Morris College with an accounting degree, Daniel worked as an accountant for the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Pittsburgh and later for H&R Block. Daniel was also a skilled carpenter. He helped his family and friends with their home improvement projects and was best known in Dormont, PA, as “The guy who hung the Christmas tree from the ceiling using a fan motor.” Daniel enjoyed gardening and grew a menagerie of flowers and vegetables that included cacti and horseradish; the latter a wickedly strong accompaniment to kielbasa. Daniel also loved riding roller coasters with his children and grandchildren at Kennywood Park. 

Daniel is survived by his darling wife, Sandra; his children; his sons-in-law Brian Snyder and Craig Ackerman; and his grandchildren. 

Daniel will be laid to rest at Salisbury National Cemetery Annex in North Carolina on Friday, August 14 at 11:00 AM. The cemetery is located at 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144.
