Daniel Theodore
Gilbert
April 28, 1962 – May 25, 2026
Daniel Theodore "Doc" Gilbert, born April 28, 1962, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 25, 2026, at the age of 62. His sudden passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
To know Danny was to know someone you could always count on. If a family member, friend, neighbor, or even a stranger needed help, Danny would be there without hesitation.
Danny served in the United States Navy from 1984 until his retirement in 2009, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer (E-7) and serving as an HMC (DV) Deep Sea Diving Independent Duty Corpsman (8494). His commitment to service continued after retirement through his work with Blackwater as Head Medic in 2010 and later with Military Sealift Command as Head of Medical from 2012 until 2026. Service to his country was not just a career- it was part of who he was.
Above all else, Danny loved his family. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a loving grandfather who cherished every opportunity to spend time with those he loved. Family gatherings, conversations around the table, and time shared with his children and grandchildren were among his greatest joys. He believed family was one of God's greatest blessings.
Danny's faith in the Lord was the foundation of his life. He lived his faith through his actions, treating others with compassion, generosity, and kindness. His example touched countless lives and reflected the values he held dear.
A deeply patriotic American, Danny dedicated much of his life to serving his country. When he wasn't working overseas, Danny enjoyed spending time doing the things he loved most. He had a passion for firearms, enjoyed riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and especially treasured the time spent riding alongside his father, Richard Gilbert. The bond they shared was one of mutual respect, love, and friendship. Richard's passing less than two months before Danny's made their loss especially difficult for the family.
Danny is survived by his loving wife, Marcia; his former wife, Michel Gilbert; his son Joshua Gilbert, wife Andrea , granddaughter Elyn; daughter Samantha Gilbert, granddaughter Cora; and son Caleb Gilbert, wife Sarah, grandson Theodore. He is also survived by his mother, Carol Gilbert; his brother John Gilbert, wife, Marlyn; sister Tammy Gilbert, nephew Chad; along with many extended family members, friends, shipmates, and colleagues whose lives were enriched by knowing him. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard "Dick" Gilbert.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at 2:00pm at Judah Church. A reception for family and friends will be held at Hampton Inn & Suites at 3:00PM to 6:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Danny's memory to Wounded Warrior Project and Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
