Charles Glenwood “Glenn” Rapp, age 88, of Rock Hill, SC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2026. He was born on June 26, 1937, in Flat River, Missouri. He was the son of the late Charles and Dorothy (Brown) Rapp.
Glenn is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Pennington; his children Cindy Bachmann (Brian) of Farmington, Missouri; Becki Morgenstern (David) of Washington, Illinois; Scott Rapp (Lisa) of Rock Hill, South Carolina; Russell Hovis of Rock Hill, South Carolina; and Roger Hovis (Tricia) of Blythewood, South Carolina; Jeremy Blake (Jessica) of Montague, New Jersey. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great pride and joy. Glenn was also lovingly known as “Jody” to his three nieces, a name that reflected the special bond they shared and the affection he showed so easily to those he loved.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Wilma (Hovis) Rapp; son Timothy Hovis; daughter-in-law, JoAnne Hovis; June Sparks and her husband Murphy; and his brother Robert Rapp and his wife Martha.
Glenn worked for many years at Emerson Electric Company, from which he retired after a dedicated career. He was a founding member and former elder of First Christian Church of Rock Hill, South Carolina, where his faith and service were central to his life.
Above all, Glenn was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He had an easy, friendly smile for everyone he met and was well known for giving nicknames to friends and family alike. His quick smile could brighten any situation, and his positive spirit left a lasting impression on those around him. He had a way of making people want to be a better version of themselves. Glenn loved to travel and, in recent years, was grateful to visit destinations both near and far, including Alaska and Europe. He was also a passionate fisherman who delighted in sharing “the thrill of the catch” with anyone willing to join him. In years past, he handcrafted custom fishing rods for friends and family, and he carried his love of fishing well into retirement by continuing to fish and building a successful eBay business selling vintage fishing equipment and other items.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, January 28, from 2:00–3:00 p.m. at First Christian Church of Rock Hill, with a Celebration of Life service and dinner to follow.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Christian Church of Rock Hill.
Glenn will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know and love him. His kindness, warm smile, faith, and steady presence leave a lasting legacy of love and his memory will live on in the countless lives he touched.
