Obituary

Charles Kerekes, birth name Kerekes Karoly Tibor, age 83, went to be with the Lord Jesus on Friday, July 16, 2026, at Hospice Community Center in Rock Hill, SC. Born in Tusnad, Romania, he was predeceased by his wife of 52 years Gizella Kerekes, and his parents Kerekes Janos and Kerekes Ida. Charles immigrated to the United States in 1981 to Salisbury, MD, with his wife and children, and became a U.S. Citizen in 1987.

He worked as a Tool and Die Maker for most of his life. He and his wife relocated to South Carolina in 2015. Charles had a passion for the LORD and enjoyed reading His Word and preaching the good news. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, cooking, gardening, playing backgammon, and visiting his family and hometown in Romania.

He is survived by his son, Charles Kerekes and his wife, Lauren Kerekes of Mascot, TN; his daughter, Ashley Dawn Kable of Princess Anne, MD; his daughter, Lillian Mason and her husband, Chris Mason of Rock Hill, SC; his daughter, Grace Mason and her husband, Scott Mason of Fort Mill, SC; his son, John Kerekes of Fort Mill, SC; his sister, Simon Edit of Sfantu Gheorghe, Romania; 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until 10:30 am, on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Palmetto Funeral Home on 2049 Carolina Place Dr. Fort Mill, SC 29708. A Graveside Service will follow at 11 am at Philadelphia UMC Cemetery at 1691 Hwy. 160 W., Fort Mill, SC.
