Obituary

Charlene Edna Carter Cunnup of Fort Mill, SC and formerly of Rock Hill, SC went to be with the Lord on May 27, 2026. She was born April 9, 1935, in Rock Hill, SC, daughter of the late Charlie Carter and Margaret Carter.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at Newkirk Baptist Church, 175 Museum Road, Rock Hill, SC, 29732

Charlene is survived by her son Tommy; granddaughter, Brittany (Alan); great-grandson Oaklee; sisters, Sue Ratterree, Rock Hill, SC and Linda Payne, Rock Hill, SC and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James "Jimmy" Cunnup; sister, Phyllis Turney; and brother Charles Carter.

Charlene never met a stranger, was always ready to share a joke, she was everyone's "friend" and to know her was to love her. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and loved her Gamecocks. She enjoyed spending time with her church family whether it was worship, quilting or missions’ group.

Most important to her was her family and she will forever be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

She is survived by her son Tommy, granddaughter Brittany (Alan), great-grandson Oaklee, sisters, Sue Ratterree, Rock Hill, SC and Linda Payne, Rock Hill, SC and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial donations may be made to Newkirk Baptist Church.
