Cecil Barron Mcclain

Cecil McClain, 90 years old died Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Carolina Gardens, York, SC. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2016 at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens, 700 Heckle Blvd, Rock Hill, SC with Reverend Tony Adams officiating. Visitation will follow at the graveside. A native of Rock Hill, Cecil was the son of the late William Edward and Annie McClain . He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and worked at Rock Hill Printing & Finishing. He was co-owner of Associated Vending with Brother Billy McClain. He was an active member at Rock Hill Senior Citizens Center for many years. He enjoyed fishing, flea markets and camping. He was a lifelong member of India Hook United Methodist Church. Surviving are his daughters Peggy Barr of Charlotte, NC and Judy Kirkland and husband Doug of Rock Hill, SC, his grandson Kenneth Barr and wife Jennifer, great grandsons Cody and Mason Barr of Columbia, SC. His surviving siblings are sisters Grace Pruette and Shirley Dunlap. He was predeceased by his former wife Frances, son Cecil McClain, Jr, brothers Joe, Jack, Reid, Billy, Glenn and Edward; and sisters Margaret, Bernice and Lagatha, his beloved friend Helen Williams, and his faithful dog Poochie. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Mr. McClain's name to India Hook United Methodist Church, 3300 Mt. Gallant Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732. Bass Cauthen Funeral Home is assisting the family.
