Celebration of Life
Carol Dudley Hunt, 79, of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away on March 13, 2026, at 6:36 p.m., surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 7 th , 1946 and raised in Wilmington, NC.
Carol was a devout Christian woman and proud child of God. Her gentle spirit and unwavering faith touched everyone who knew her. She found joy in family gatherings, where her warmth and laughter filled the room. She loved listening to Elvis, whose music brought her comfort and nostalgia. But she was happiest in the kitchen, cooking meals that brought her family and friends together.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Anthony Hunt; her son, James Scott Hunt; her sister, Patricia Dudley Reese; and her brothers, Donald Barry Dudley and James Jeffrey Dudley. Their reunion in Heaven brings comfort to those who mourn her earthly absence.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Goyak (husband Matt); her grandson, Grant Rivers Kiker; and her brother, Henry Cecil Dudley (wife Vicky) along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Carol’s legacy of love, faith, and kindness will continue to shine through the generations she leaves behind.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Anchor Baptist Church, 300 Futch Creek Road in Wilmington, NC 28411. The family will receive loved ones for visitation at 3:00 p.m., and a remembrance service will follow officiated by Pastor Daniel Eplee.
The family would like to express heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of love and support from family and friends; especially over the past year. They would also like to extend a special thank you to Pruitt Hospice for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Community Methodist Church Building Fund at Faith Community Church You can give online, or checks may be mailed to P.O. Box 10999 Wilmington, NC 28404 with “Building” written in the memo line.
