February 20, 1930 — February 10, 2026

Rock Hill, SC

Betty Schuermann Stiff, 95, of Rock Hill, SC, went to be with her Lord on February 10, 2026.

She was born on February 20, 1930 to her late parents, William S. Schuermann, Sr., and Gladys Bogart Schuermann. She was a brilliant pianist and an extremely talented embroiderer. The focus of her life was her faith, followed by her love of her family, of which she was the proud matriarch.

On September 8, 1948, she married Eugene C. Stiff, Jr. They were devoted to each other for 68 years until his death in 2017. He was a pastor, and they served churches in Kentucky, Missouri, and Illinois until he returned to college to become a teacher.

When the family moved to Rock Hill, SC, in 1965, she became executive secretary to Talbot Patrick, Wayne Patrick, and Roger Sovde at The Rock Hill Evening Herald. In 1989, she left the Herald for her dream job as a church secretary at SouthPark Christian Church in Charlotte, where she remained until her retirement.

Her daughters would like to thank Danielle Benham, Brian Drawdy, and Allen Drawdy for the loving care they showed their grandmother, especially in the last few years.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Robert E. Schuermann of Salem, VA; her sister, Bonny Sparks of Vinton, VA; and her sister-in-law, Sarah Schuermann of Williamsburg, VA.

She is survived by her daughters, Becky Drawdy (Glynn) of Rock Hill, SC; Betty Jean Franklin of Atlanta, GA; Bobbie Tadlock, who provided devoted care for the last years of her life in her home; Bonny Garcia (Oscar) of Chester, SC; and her honorary daughter, Rosemary Howell (Morgan) of Georgetown, SC.

Her treasured grandchildren are Brian Drawdy (Sherl) of Rock Hill, SC; Allen Drawdy (Amber) of Rock Hill, SC; William Drawdy (Anna) of Rock Hill, SC; Matt Franklin (Pauline Lu) of Murfreesboro, TN; Danielle Benham (Matt) of Matthews, NC; Olivia Frain of Colorado; and Chris Tadlock (Alysha) of Clover, SC. She also is survived by nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Siblings and siblings-in-law who survive are William Schuermann of Williamsburg, VA; Mary Ann Johnston of Daleville, VA, and Frank Sparks of Vinton, VA.

The family thanks hospice nurse Kim Futrelle and hospice aide Kia Heath for their loving care.
