Helms
August 27, 1949 – April 4, 2026
Arnold Wayne Helms is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Blackwelder Helms; his daughter, Stephanie Helms; his granddaughter, Haley Howington; and his grandson-in-law, Samuel Howington.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Arnold Wayne Helms Jr., and his parents, A.J. Helms and Lena Adams Helms.
Wayne will be fondly remembered for his warmth, loyalty, and the deep love he held for his family and friends. He cherished time spent with those closest to him, creating lasting memories through simple moments and shared laughter. His favorite color was purple, a small but meaningful reflection of his vibrant spirit. In honor of his memory, those attending the service are encouraged to wear purple.
Wayne was a dedicated and respected member of the Masonic community. He received his Entered Apprentice Degree on July 24, 1972; his Fellow Craft Degree on August 28, 1972; and his Master Mason Degree on October 7, 1972, at York Lodge No. 385. He later affiliated with Catawba Lodge No. 56 on April 14, 1975, and was proudly presented with his 50-Year Masonic pin on December 2, 2022.
His commitment to service was evident throughout his life. Wayne faithfully served as Lodge Treasurer from 1986 to 2001 and was honored as Mason of the Year in 1992. In 2000, he received the distinguished W. L. Broadwell Award in recognition of his dedication and contributions.
A proud 50-year member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple, Wayne was also a founding member of the Hejaz Hot Wheels and a lifetime member of the Great Falls Shrine Club. He served as an Area Representative in York County for more than 20 years and held a position on the Executive Board of the York Crescent Shrine Club.
