Anthony J Tuchek

May 25, 1948 — September 1, 2025

Anthony J. Tuchek "Tony" of York, SC went to be with the Lord on September 1, 2025. Tony was born May 25, 1948 in Youngstown, Ohio. He was the second of three children born into the loving family of the late Margaret and Arnold Tuchek.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Lynne (Cox), and son, Anthony (Tony).

Tony is survived by his wife, Gayle (Richards), his beloved companion "Buddy," daughter Audra (Jon) Hesse of Charlotte, NC; sons Steven (Jennifer) Richards of Glenview, IL, Jason Richards of Chicago, IL; grandchildren Anthony (Kylie) Tuchek, Alex Tuchek, Gabriela Hesse, Cole Hesse, Madeleine Morrison, Quinn Richards, Juliet Richards and a soon to be born great grandchild. He is also survived by sisters Bonita (Bonnie) Klein of Youngstown, OH and Mary Ann Lloyd of Columbus, OH.

As a boy of about twelve, Tony had a paper route and delivered newspapers for The Vindicator in Youngstown. He also worked as a caddie at the Mahoning and Youngstown Country Clubs where he acquired his love of golf.

Tony was hired by the then Baltimore & Ohio Railroad in June, 1966. He enlisted in the U.S.Navy in January, 1968 and after serving his country, was discharged in November, 1971. Tony returned to his former employer the B&O Railroad as a brakeman. He then became a manager and held various positions. Tony was transferred to Chicago where he met and married Gayle in 2006. While in Chicago, Tony was named Vice President Northern Region, CSX (the former B&O, Chessie System Railroad), and retired in January, 2007 after 41 years of service.

After retirement, Tony and Gayle fulfilled a dream to live on the lake and in 2012 moved to York, SC. On Lake Wylie they found joy in listening to the birds and appreciating all that God had created. Tony also liked golfing, fishing, college sports (actually, all things Ohio State), traveling and most of all, his family.

Tony was a wonderful man and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A private service will be held on October 4, 2025 at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer's Association.
