Sue Reitz Gulasky passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents John H. & Alice D. Reitz and her loving husband of 39 years Joseph (Joe) A. Gulasky.

Sue grew up in Williamsburg, VA attending Matthew Whaley Elementary, James Blair High School and Ferrum College. After marrying Joe in 1970, they lived in Tennessee, Ohio, Virginia & Charlotte, finally moving to their home on the water in Tega Cay, SC in 1975. They enjoyed boating, golf, croquet and traveling together.

Sue was active in community affairs, after a long working career in Atlanta, Williamsburg and Charlotte. She helped start the Tega Cay Rescue Squad Auxiliary raise money for a new ambulance, served on the board of the first Tega Cay Chamber of Commerce, and was a treasurer of the TC Women’s Club. Sue was a member of the TC Croquet Club, Vintage Club board, and Tega Cay Elementary School Improvement Council. Also, she served on the Fort Mill Times Editorial Board from 2009 to 2018. Both Sue and Joe were active in the TC Lions Club and Sue served as President twice. She enjoyed being with friends playing bridge, pinochle, geocaching, croquet, knitting and book clubs. Her signature line for emails was “Leisure Lady Sue” although she always had many activities on her calendar.

Sue was a Charter Member and founding Elder of Grace Presbyterian Church, served on the first and second building committees helping to establish a viable place for worship. Her church was an important part of her life and enjoyed activities such as working with Habitat for Humanity, VBS, and the care and concern committee.

She is survived by her brother, John H. (Jack) Reitz and sister-in-law (Connie) along with nephew Stephen & wife Jen and their children Logan and Paige Shepard. Her extended family includes Dinah & Oscar Babb, Stephanie Babb Ayala (Juan), their children and Mills Babb (Mary Catherine), and their children. Sue was blessed with special families who “adopted” her after Joe’s death, the Wilke & Thoma families, who call her Aunt Sue, and Barbie & Stuart Staples.

Sue would like to thank the many friends who supported her during her life. You were a true blessing.
