Alice Elaine
Cherry
June 29, 1940 – April 18, 2026
Alice Elaine Cherry, 85, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, a proud Catawba citizen, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Whitesell Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 2:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Cemetery, 1989 Reservation Road, officiated by Rev. Bernard Hamilton.
She was the daughter of the late Ella Sanders and Allen Canty. Alice was a strong and faithful believer in the Lord. She never missed a day reading her Bible, listening to Christian music, and watching sermons when she was no longer able to attend church. She was an inspiration to many and had a way of leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. Alice treated all people with kindness, love, and respect.
She leaves behind a legacy of love to be cherished by her sons, James Columbus Cherry, Jr. and Jimmy Dean Cherry (Pat); her grandchildren, Michael Baucom (Kim), Heather “Childers” Cherry, May Cherry (Brandon), Jennifer Jordan (TJ), Scotty Cherry, Danielle Wise (Alex), Bryson Cherry, along with many other grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; her beloved sisters, Rose, Fern, Ella, Jane, and Lucy Canty; and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Columbus Cherry, Sr.; her children, Donald Rae Cherry (Pat), Ronald Cherry, and Debbie Cherry Brock; and three brothers and her sister.
Above all, Alice’s greatest joy was her family. She will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Whitesell Funeral Home is serving the Cherry family.
