Alexandria D. Foley

February 17, 1939 — January 23, 2026

Rock Hill, SC

Alexandria Donaldson (Young) Foley—known to just about everyone as Sandy—passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 23, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply. She was 86 and lived in York, South Carolina, after many years in Ossining, Yorktown, Beacon, and Cold Spring, New York, and Sun City West, Arizona.

Sandy was born on February 17, 1939, in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Ossining, New York, where she graduated from Ossining High School in 1956. Not long after, she married the love of her life, Charles “Chuck” Foley. They shared 69 years of marriage, building a life full of love, teamwork, laughter, and family.

In the early years of marriage, Sandy balanced work and home alongside her husband, creating a warm, safe, and happy household for their growing family. As their family grew to three children, she devoted herself fully to being a mom. Never one to stop learning, Sandy went back to school and earned an associate’s degree from Kissler Business Institute. That led to a successful career as a Business Manager, advancing through several school districts and culminating with the Irvington Union Free School District in Irvington, New York.

Sandy knew how to enjoy life. She loved bowling, cruises, and Caribbean vacations. She could happily spend hours doing jigsaw puzzles or watching her favorite TV murder mysteries. She enjoyed playing games —Mahjong, Dominoes, Solitaire, and card games were some of her favorites. She had a soft spot for Beanie Babies and dolls, often collecting them not just for herself but for others, too.

Her creativity showed up in many places. Sandy made pottery, blankets, sweaters, ponchos, even wedding dresses, along with couch covers, drapes, and Halloween costumes. And when it came to her grandchildren, she loved giving big, thoughtful gifts—and even bigger love. Some of her happiest moments were simply being silly with them.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, May and James Edward Young; her sisters, Patricia Burhans and Barbara Fiorito; her son-in-law, Glen Dyckman; and her grandson, Roger Chirico.

She leaves behind her highly devoted husband, Charles Foley; her son, Charles Foley II, and his partner Connie; her daughter, Andria Dyckman; her son Patrick Foley, and his wife Liz, and her beloved grandchildren, Paige, Nora, Jack, and Kathryn Foley, all of whom carry her love and spirit with them.

The family would like to sincerely thank the caregivers, nurses, physicians, and staff at BrightStar Care and Gentiva Hospice for their compassion, kindness, and support during Sandy’s final days. Your care meant more than words can say.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on January 31, 2026, at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home, 700 Heckle Boulevard, Rock Hill, SC, followed by a service celebrating Sandy’s life at 10:30 a.m.
